Artist Story

Christie didn’t set out to become a custom sneaker artist—she set out to survive a hard season and keep her mind moving.

Based in Malverne, New York, Christie is the hands and heart behind Little Bit of This Customs. She’s always been drawn to art and self-teaching, but everything shifted four years ago when she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Chemo brought long, heavy days—and she found herself in a funk she couldn’t shake. So she did what makers do when life gets loud: she created. One day, she picked up a pair of shoes and started painting— just to stay busy, just to feel something different.

That single pair turned into a spark.

What began as a way to keep her brain occupied quickly became a passion, and within two years it grew into something bigger than a hobby. Christie doesn’t box herself into one lane. Characters? Abstract? Portraits? Sewn-on elements? She’s all in. Her work is fearless and playful, the kind of art that shows up bold, bright, and unapologetically colorful—because that’s how she likes to show up too.

And people noticed.

In the last year, Christie was selected as Top 100 in the Canvas x Rakuten competition, and she also took part in My Cause, My Cleats, creating a custom pair for one of the LA Chargers coaches—a milestone that put her work on a whole new stage.

Now, she’s building what’s next. Commissions are open, and she’s actively working on setting up classes—because for Christie, customizing isn’t just about what she can make; it’s also about helping new artists find their footing. Her typical turnaround time is about 3–4 weeks, and the best way to reach her is through Instagram or Facebook.
