Artist Story
Erik Ornelas—known in the shop and in the custom world as Eazie Napz—is the artist behind Eazie Kustomz out of Midland, Texas. He’s a barber by trade, but over the last year and a half he’s been building a second name for himself with an airbrush in hand and cleats on the table.
It started with something simple: a pair of shoes he still loved, even though they were cooked. He had some heat that was beat, and he just wanted them to look new again—like his Wolf Grey 5s from 2011. That push to restore turned into curiosity, and curiosity turned into creativity. He decided to try the custom side, grabbed an airbrush, and the first real project was personal: custom baseball cleats for his son for little league. They came out “kinda nice,” and once he saw what was possible, he couldn’t stop.
Not long after, he took it further with a Joker-themed Air Force 1—and that one meant more than just the paint. It was a collab between him and his son, a moment of teaching and building something together. Eazie wasn’t just making a shoe; he was showing his kid the ropes, trying to spark that creative confidence early. To this day, that project is still one of his proudest.
Even with only a year to a year and a half in the game, Eazie’s work started traveling fast. The cleats kept coming—youth football, youth baseball, then bigger stages: college, minors, and even MLB-level projects. His first major highlight was a big one: a project for Braden Montgomery, the 12th pick in the MLB Draft, now in the White Sox organization. Another standout moment was creating cleats for Hunter Dobbins, a pitcher in the Red Sox system. They were meant for Players Week, but an ACL tear kept them off the field—still, Eazie’s already looking ahead, hoping those cleats get their moment next season.
Right now, Eazie’s lane is clear: airbrush customs, and especially cleats. He’ll customize anything, but the numbers tell the story—about 95% of his orders are cleats. That’s why durability matters so much to him. With cleats, the work isn’t just for pictures—it has to survive real games, real dirt, real wear.
When it came to linking up with KixKote, it wasn’t hype—Eazie saw performance. He liked how the paint sprays through the airbrush, how it lays down clean, and how it bonds to leather in a way that holds up. He’s always wanted recognition, and he’s been honest about sometimes feeling underrated—so much so that he created his clothing brand UNDR8D, made for artists, athletes, and anyone who’s ever felt overlooked. To him, the partnership made sense: KixKote saw his potential, and he saw a product that matched the standard he needs for the kind of work he does.
Eazie doesn’t claim to have his style fully “locked” yet—he’ll be the first to tell you he’s still developing it. But the direction is obvious: he’s building a reputation on consistency, bold concepts, clean airbrush execution, and cleats made to be worn, not just shown.
He’s currently taking commissions, and his typical turnaround is 2–4 weeks—sometimes faster, but he likes to give himself room since he’s still cutting hair too. One chair, one airbrush, and a growing list of athletes trusting him with their game-day look.
That’s Eazie Napz: Midland-built, family-driven, and leveling up fast—one pair at a time.
